I can see that once we have changed to NEWS2 getting to 90% could be difficult if we have 10 paeds and maternity patients on an alternative scoring system.
Your advice would be much appreciated.

We only have paediatric patients so we made it clear to our commissioners about the difference between the NEWS2 target and PEWS.
Once we explained they were happy as the principle was the same in that they had had a set of observations recorded with a locally agreed early warning score

Hi Jayne, I only put the NEWS2 ones under NEWS2, the PEWS go on the separate columns for paeds and our MEOWS go down as alternative early warning score.
Payment is based upon 90% of those eligible for NEWS2 being screened from using NEWS2, if you read the NEWS2 guidance it is not validated for use in paeds or maternity. Therefore you could be screening 1% of those and it won’t affect your payment.
