The UK Sepsis Trust help to run a number of sepsis support groups around the UK. The groups run on the principle of peer support with the presence of healthcare professionals to offer some input and advice. They are a fantastic way to support the people in your region affected by sepsis. They are very informal meetings and resources to run them are minimal. So, if you would like to support any current groups or set up a group in a region currently not supported, what’s involved?- Finding a suitable room, preferably nonclinical, these can often be acquired free or for as little as £20. It should have wheelchair access, amenities and facilities to make refreshments. An example of some of the rooms currently used are community centres, supermarket community rooms and church halls.
- Your valuable knowledge and time. Most groups meet on a week day evening for 2 hours every three months, so therefore wont demand too much of your time.
- A support nurse from the UK Sepsis Trust to attend for the first one or two meetings, or until you feel comfortable. With reassurance that we are here to support you.
- The UK Sepsis Trust help to promote the groups on our social media, list on our website and can produce some flyers/posters for you to display locally.
